Appam

All time favourite dish !!

Children's BEST LOVED dish.

Serves : 5-6


Ingredients :

Raw rice 1 cup

Idly rice 1 cup ( ir 20 / white car )

Uradh dhal 2 tbsp

Fenugreek 1 tsp

Coconut ½ cup ( optional )

Soda –bicarb a pinch

Salt to taste

Sugar ½ tsp ( optional )


Method :

Soak all the rice and dhal together . (min 4-6 hrs /overnight )

Wash it well and grind it to smooth paste with coconut and salt.

If sugar is opted to add ,now add it and mix well.

Allow it to ferment overnight or 4-6 hrs .

Add a pinch of soda –bicarb to the fermented mixture.

Make appam in the iron pan.

One big spoon for each appam , close and cook.

Serve hot with coconut chutney / stew / chilly powder chutney / coconut milk.
