Moringa Usili / Drumstick Leaves Usili

Tasty Immunity Booster !!!

The iron rich Moringa with protien rich dhal is simply a awesome combination and a healthy treat .




Serves : 3

Cooking Time : 30 min


Ingredients :

Moringa leaves 2 handful

Asafoetida ¼ tsp

Mustard ¼ tsp

Urad dhal ¼ tsp

Salt to taste

Oil 1 tbsp


Grind to coarse paste :

Toor dhal 2 tbsp

Red chilly 2

Cumin ¼ tsp

Turmeric ¼ tsp

Coconut 11/2 tbsp


Method :

Boil water and add the leaves ,allow it to cook till soft.

When it reaches room temperature squeeze out the water and set aside.

In a pan heat oil ,add mustard allow it to splutter.

Add urad dhal allow it to splutter .

Add the ground dhal ,salt , asafoetida and little water ,toss it , close and cook ,till dhal is soft.

Now add the cooked moringa leaves and stir well, close and cook for few minutes.

Open the lid and fry well till a nice aroma comes.

Serve hot with rice.


Note :

This is a dhal dominat vegetable. If more vegetable is preferred then reduce the dhal quantity. Also the moringa can be replaced with beans ,snake gourd, bottle gourd and cluster beans.
